Tom,

If you are talking about the plates that have MG and Sprite on them then they 
are not the full length of the threshold.  Also, unless you fully seal the 
plates they just provide another place to trap water.  We have these plates 
on our car but use very thin magnets to hold them in place so that we can 
clean under them on a regular bases.
