You can add to that a set of HS4s over the stromberg (or weber if that suits 
you), a gearbox with thicker gears (or at least a hardened idler gear), an 
oversized oil pump, cam bearings, better radiator, and an oil cooler.  Add a 
hot cam, oversized pistons, and a mildly ported head (with hardened seats) 
while your at it.

On the plus side,  your $3,000 engine will something to grin at every time you 
plunk down the accelerator.

Or so I hope.

want to at least do the following to the engine: Get
the oil galleries enlarged, pin the thrust washers,
convert the clutch type fan to the older constant fan
(it'll cool better believe it or not). This is only a
short list of important things to do to the 1500 to
make it more reliable and usable.
