3 possibles on the rear end clunk.

1) bum U joint
2) bum splines on a wire wheel
3) most likely, a broken leaf spring.

As for the diff, if it is original, you have a 3.9, the only one taller
is a 3,7 out of a late 78 or 79 Midget. A 4.22 is also available from a
69 or earlier.
I prefer the 4.22 and a 5 speed as the 4.22 gives it the snap off the
line and 5th gear makes the interstate tollerable.
