Answers to everyone:

The twin SU carbs are a modification as I am in Canada!, I live in Montreal,
Quebec
If anyone is in the area I sure would like your opinions on the car if you
can come and see it. There does'nt seem to be any leaks from the carbs I
would tend to believe its more the "carbon canister" ( that's the EGR isnt
it? )

About the engine fires, from past experience as a truck driver I carry a fire
extinguisher in the trunk at all times. Fire could catch quite fast too as
there is a nice little header right below the intake manifold
( another modification ).

As for the color I'm still debating,  back to original red, keep the matte
silver, or add a clear to the matte silver. ...hmmmm?
