I replaced my brake master cylinder, clutch master cylinder, brake hoses,
rear brake slave cylinders, and clutch slave cylinder in 1985. The car has
been driven an average of 7000 miles a year, more in the '80's, less in the
late 90's, now leveled off at about 5000 miles a year. It is nice enough
here to take the car out year round, so the car is more or less a daily
driver. I would say I flush the fluid about once every three years, and I
use Castrol Dot 4. I had to replace the rear wheel cylinders last summer
due to leaking seals, and put on a new clutch slave cylinder this summer
when I rebuilt the Nissan tranny. Both of the master cylinders are still
working great 15 years later. Knock on wood, as tomorrow they will probably
fail now that I've said something.
