Good luck on the temporary Engine swap. I too have a spridget 1275 in my
Minor pick-up truck, was surprised to find a few small problems with the
swap.
1. the Intake/exhaust manifold is special to the minor so if you want to
increase carburation for the larger engine you have to work out what rout
to follow in getting around this detail.
     a) use after market header (about 280 dollars)
     b) use morris intake/ exhaust combo with larger carb.(ignore the
obvious flow problems)
     c) cut away the intake section careful to leave only the exhaust so
you can use stock 1275 carbs or go aftermarket
2. fan clearance between emissions can very tight
     a) use electric cooling fan
     b) replace emission can timing cover with early style (vent
crankcase by other means) not the best choice unless you plan to bore a
hole where a mechanical fuel pump would be an add filtered vent.
     c) trim or find another fan with very thin profile and slot radiator
mounting holes to push radiator as far forward as possible
3.( the easiest problem) thermostat housing outlet don't line up with
radiator inlet.
      a) buy 90 degree elbow of proper OD from any parts store and line
up
good luck on your project and feel free to mail me either through e-group
or to stevsgarage@yahoo.com

Hi all,

SWAG is having a pre-season get together March 24, Saturday, at 12
noon at my place. We will be pulling a 1275 engine out of a 72, and,
time willing, put it into a '67 Minor (its temporary home until the '66
Sprite is ready for it.)

Bring some work clothes and expect to get your hands dirty. It will
be a potluck, I am providing the chili. A good chance to get together,
swap stories and help out a fellow lister (me)

Please RSVP so that I can:

1. Figure out how much goop to buy (to eat)
2. Figure out how much chili to make (to clean your hands with)

Did I get that mixed up? Nah...

Hope to see you there.

Steve
