A friend of mine bought two. One was such a mess, he got badly screwed. It was a
Dixi, and one of the first as made in Germany under license. The second is a
1927 model he's had done with a fresh body from England.
There are specialists over there that still do this kind of coachbuilding.
The cars are achingly primitive. The brakes are laughable. The capabilities
are so restricted that they are unusable beyond puttering down a winding back
road. Slip a 5 speed into a spridget and you can go anywhere. Slip
the Austin Seven or Iris or Ruby onto a trailer and you can go anywhere.
I want a Berkeley, but I can't afford the surgery to ME.
