Timing and Temperature

I can't recall. Which direction makes the car run hot?? If the timing is too
advanced or too retarded??

The reason I ask, and I have not checked the timing this AM, I, with the
help of Kevin and Rob V, and Jim S of the MG list, put a new wiring harness
in the Midget over the last couple days. Then yesterday, after I got the car
running I went for a drive in a local fun Rally and the car ran really hot.
Nor would it idle properly, all things it was not doing before we put the
harness in. I suspect we may have knocked the timing off the mark playing in
the engine compartment. Like I said, I have not checked it out, was just
trying to remember which way it went.
