Another possible check is the key number and axle number.
British Motor heritage list these on the production
certificate. Key number is stamped on the ignition switch
(I've always wondered why - easier to steal) and axle
number is I guess on the axle ;-).

Seems like a good check for a suspect car doubt anyone
would think to match up these numbber.
