Hey, I'm just holdin' this chicken.....
Seriously, though, I hear what you're saying.  I've got access to a pretty
good powder coater, but, he's about 2 hrs away.  I've not had to do any of
my own wheels for years, and the small stuff I just throw in the blast
cabinet and then hit 'em with POR-15 (black, silver or white).  I've had
VERY good results with the stuff and find it to be very rugged.
Now, when I do the wheels on the '73 Midget my son and I are doing.....
We'll probably use a POR-15 base over a white or near-white blast.  I
blasted and POR-15ed a set of wheels two years ago for a friend's 1500
(POR-15 base and POR-15 Tie-Coat primer).  As I recall, I shot them with
silver and he did the black part.  They turned out very well.
