Any 1 wire alterantor will work. 1 wire meaning large wire, they all 
have a couple smaller wires. 1 for the tickler circuit (you don't need 
that) and 1 for the ign light on the dash.
Just make sure the mounting ears are 180* across. Some are 90, others 
270*. And one heavy wire terminal marked "B" (battery)
The smaller, the better (for looks) The GM alternator is 1/2 the size of 
  the engine, Subarus used a very small alternator. Also watch the 
modern wide sepentine belt pulleys, most are replaceable. You need the 
"V" belt pulley.
