Actually that gauge was in the 75's and 76's. Ain't sure about the 77's.

I have the dual gauge in my 78. And yes you can just swap the bezel. 
However you will notice the font is a bit different in the dual gauge 
as in the later electric one. Also the light bulb is white instead of 
the later green (fixable with a small filter) color.
