Many of our polititians think it is their duty to protect us from ourselves.
They don't care how and they don't usually care why, they just have to do it.
This legislation against a tiny group of old car owners is a perfect
example. It is also an easy way for a legislator to do something and say
though her
constituents "look what I did" I attacked a small group that can't or wont
exert any political clout to save you good people from those nasty old cars
that
are polluting our air.
She (in this case, not being sexist) can do this and not tick off her soccer
mom constituents that drive SUV's or vans. The only problem I see with Glen's
proposal is that it would adversely affect the families with two or more
children that need a large vehicle to get around comfortably and safely in.
I don't know any viable solutions to the pollution problems, other than our
steady progress with automobile engineering. Mass transit just doesn't seem to
work, and the cost in my opinion is excessive.
We just have to keep a watch out and be ready to be vocal and point out the
silliness of legislation such as this.
As many of you know, my other hobby involves firearms, and although I
certainly do not agree with everything the National Rife Association says, they
seem
to be the only effective voice nationally for my hobby, so I am a life member.
If there were a similar organization for old cars, I'm sure I would join that
too.
