Congrats, Leo! Well done! Get a real buzz when it starts, don't you?

Here are a few thoughts scattered in your message.

Good catch on the points bit.

Not neccesarily so. It takes a bit for an engine to get to operating temp
and have the thermostat open. It will usually open ever so slowly at idle.
It will be cooling OK with the bypass hose and if the heater valve is open,
through the heater core.

Sounds like it's all normal!

You need to separate the carbs to get a good initial adjustment. After it's
all done and OK, then connect the linkage between them, leaving a .020 to
.030 feeler guage stuck between the idle stop against the heat shield. and
don't screw around with them again! (Ya sure!) BTW, don't leave the
feeler guage there!

Send me a ticket!

Nice feeling is right!

Sounds more like a push rod or brake shoe adjustment. If it had air in the
system, the second pump would be mushy, not rock hard.

What's a short in an LBC. I thought they were perpetually in some sort of
electrical panic!

Nice story, Leo. Good for you.
