I replaced the shafts in my carbs a while back with no problems from
carb body wear. BUT the shafts I got (from Moss most likely) were not
made correctly. The "flats" ground on the end of the shafts where the
throttle arms attach were too short, so when the arms were attached they
stuck out from the carb body too far and completly missed the adjusting
screws. Fixed it (sort of) by grinding the flats farther along the shaft
with the Dremel, but they still don't fit well. Planning to get some
more shafts from Joe Curto before this year's driving season, which
begins as soon as I can get the car out of the back yard. Given current
weather, probably mid June. :-P
