Lester....assuming your Sprite is intended
as a daily driver on nice days....

I absolutely 2nd what Mike advises on the
Judson blower idea, unless you've perfected
an alcohol/water delivery system to take the place of 100+RON pump gasoline
which
is NLA, or you are running racing fuel such
as Sunoco CAM2, Turbo Blue or one of the
others.

The Judson was designed to work with
the intitial low compression ratios of mid
and late '50's imported motors TOGETHER
(in combo) with the readily available 100RON+ pump gasolines of yesterday.

As for it's use on Series A motors other
than the 948cc motor for which it's capacity
is designed.....
the maker's intended boost curve of 6psi
was "planned". Less gives you all heat and
little (if any) performance gain except at the
very top of the rpm range which is not what the Judson was designed for, it
having been designed to provide for a
temporary boost in "street torque" in accordance with the stock cam profile.

The blower was not designed for "continuous" operation (though it can
be upgraded in this respect, of course).

Now I am going to go out on a limb and say
something here which won't be popular with certain people....the Judson is THE
hottest running blower I know of...by
design. It's relatively cheap, but this comes
at the expense of terrific heat production
in operation.

Without racing gasoline or appropriate
octanes (in consideration of the high
dynamic compression ratio courtesy of
boosted operation), or a water or water/
alcohol delivery or injection system to
"cool" operation on modern "garbage
octane" unleaded pump gas, you stand a
very good chance of damaging your motor
or reducing it's service life by attempting
to run this major heat producer on today's
lower octane unleadeds. BTDT along with
Michael. My engine was the larger 1275 while his was the correctly sized 948.

Both of us bent over backwards to get our
applications to work correctly. Mine was
chancy considering it's Judson required
over-driving to work but I sorta figured
Mike's application was definitely going to
work considering his lower compression
ratio and correctly sized motor. WRONG!!

If you are serious about a blower, spend
the bucks on a modern Hans Pedersen or
Moss kit designed to work with today's
lower octane readily available unleadeds.

And don't bitch about the price of these
well-designed modern kits....a 40% increase
in available street torque no longer comes
cheap thanx to today's "garbage octane"
unleadeds, for which the modern kits have
been designed. When you pay for one of
these modern kits, you are not just getting
the blower. You're getting everything you
need to work successfully with today's low
octane unleaded fuels.

Octanes make all the difference in the world. And if you haven't got these
available than you need artificial cooling.

Without either/or, the application is doomed to failure and maybe to the extent
of the motor as well. Depends on how far
you "push" something that doesn't wanna
"naturally" work on today's readily available pump fuels.
