Subject: Bugeye Correction

Mornin' all.

I received my Heritage Certificate on my new Bugeye and found that my
suspicions about it's vintage were well founded. My title came saying it
was
a 1958. The VIN number on the title was the car's body number and too high
to
be a 58. Other body features also indicate a later car. The Chassis plate
and motor plate are both missing. The motor, I believe, is a 58 or,
possibly,
very early 59 (coil on the generator and straight spark plug connector caps
indicate a 58).

The Heritage Certificate says the Chassis Number was AN5-L/32506 and it had
a
build date of Jan. 26, 1960. I guess I'll have to correct my title with the
motor vehicle department people -- I can't wait to deal with them.

I intend on upgrading my Bugeye with the 1275, ribcase, brakes, suspension
etc. from my 72 Midget. I would like to hang on to a 948 etc. in case I
should ever decide to go back to original (or as original as I can, anyhow).
If anybody has a 58 BE with a later 948 and would like to swap or whatever
for
a 58 motor to go with their 58 car, let me know. I would just as soon see
somebody complete a 58 as close as possible to original and the vintage of
this motor means nothing to my 60 BE.
