Hi John,
This should be an easy fix. Just put a small amount of silicone seal in the
bottom of the U- shaped gasket, then slide the glass in place. It'll last
longer than you'll own the car!!
I've done this on Several Morris Minors. Don't put so much in the channel
it will smoosh out, small amounts work well, and then it's invisable.
