VARA in California is one of the most liberal in regards to car prep.

Personally, my cars have originality up the wazoo...

Hi Flounder,
SCCA racing Spridgets were never allowed to hack off the fender wells,
so that jumped out at me. I expected a vintage car to at least have all
of the sheetmetal that's supposed to be there, and I'm assuming that a
vintage Sprite would have been an SCCA at one time. Maybe there were
other organizations that allowed cutting up the tub? I know carbon
fiber wasn't in common use in the sixties.
I understand the safety updates are encouraged, and that some groups
allow updating the engine, I just expected more authenticity is all.
John
