With all due respect, nothing is going to work for *everyone*. Does
that mean we shouldn't try to have a single event where as many as
possible attend?

I can see the Kansas 50th celebration now.  Since I'll be retired and
living in Georgia it will leave...  lessee....   Ummmm...    Yeah!!
 Randy in Great Bend and Bill in Wichita!!!   Just the two of them...
what a party!!!

Even if we had a couple from nearby states, it wouldn't be more than 5
or 6.  I don't think anyone is going to travel even 250 miles for
that.

Personally, I don't mind travelling 1,000 miles for something as
special as this. However, if it means travelling from Georgia to San
Diego for it, then I have to think again. That's why I suggest
somewhere central. Nobody has to travel more than about 1,000 miles
and many won't have to travel that far.
