If the recommended fuel pressure is somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 to
2-1/2 PSI, you're going to need a pretty high ladder to gravity feed that
much pressure.

5 feet of water column produces just over 2 PSI, but gasoline is more than
25% lighter.  Putting a gas tank say 13 feet above the carburetor should
give you about 2 PSI.
