You are absolutely right, Larry.  And until definitive evidence to the 
contrary appears, I think that we can all accept that as the final word. 

Your note sent me scurrying to my library and scrapbook of clippings and 
brochures to find some rather surprising information.  First, it appears 
that all of the factory drawings and photos show a bumper.  Those san 
bumper were post-production photos.  Obviously, they had a barebones 
price for the car, and making more profit by  pushing options on the 
buyer.  Second, in some of the magazine road tests, no mention is made 
of the bumper being an option, while others show it as an option  
variously priced from #5 23s 4d to as much as #6.  Keep in mind that 
also an option was a tachometer at #4 5s, and a heater at #19 13s 2d.  
Now, we may chuckle today about the Sprite's "heater", but it was an 
essential and welcome "option" in Blighty at the time!

I rather suspect that few, if any Frogeyes were sold in England without 
these "options"!
