Afraid I don't see the relationship to VIN Lin, considering these kits would 
have been installed after-market at the request of random ownners. And probably 
damn few
at that. For....

...while the kit itself was not unreasonably
expensive, I would imagine getting it properly installed/painted to look 
"factory"
was anything but cheap.

Don't forget we're talking people who bought Sprites at $1795 rather than MGA's 
 at $2400. $600 was relatively a lot of money back then.
