Brad:

A lot of engines will fit a Healey.

My first sports car was a '57 100/6. About a year after I sold it I saw it
in a parking lot and stopped to look at it. Met the current owner. He had
installed a Mustang 289 V-8. Scary ride.

2 years ago, I was at an auction in Boca Raton. There was a really nice
Healey 100 that had been sold the day before and was still on the scene. It
had a small-block Chevy V-8. Selling price was $17,000. For the condition
of the car, that was about $10,000 to $15,000 below what it should have sold
for. Why so low? The V-8.

No matter if this Healey you're considering is a 4 or a 6, I urge you to
keep the original engine and think about both resale value and vintage
racing.
