I have done the same thing many times. Not that I have that much of a life,
but I do forget or sometimes I'm not able to be there watching the end of an
auction. Sometimes the items will bid beyond what I would have been willing to
pay and it doesn't matter if I was there or not, other times I've missed items
that went for much less than I would have bid and I probably could have won
them. When I miss out on something I really wanted it does bum me out for a
little while.
There are proxy services on the internet that will bid for you at the last
minute. I haven't been interested in them enough to research and find out how
they work and how trustworthy and reliable they are.
