Happy 1997, everyone.

To start the year off right, please ponder this for me.

I was just about ready to put my DPO-plagued Tiger on the road, but
decided that, despite being VERY anxious to drive it, I should rebuild
the carb first, since it apparently has a fuel flow problem (I have a
LOT of fuel exiting thru the tailpipes). It is a Holley (List number
2805), installed by a DPO many moons back, and is missing its choke
plate. Since I could not find anyone to sell me a choke plate, I
decided to look into Holley's Custom Shop for doing a complete overhaul
of the unit. Price: $220 plus shipping. Ouch (although they do a LOT
of work for that money).

Anyway, while I had the Holley expert on the line I asked him what he
knew about the unit. Turns out it was OEMed to Ford for - get this -
their 427. I am thinking that this would be inappropriate for a 260,
SO...

What does everyone else think? What would you do? Rebuild and re-use
it? Replace it with a smaller unit? Is their a great carb/intake pair
that everyone but I knows about? BTW, the intake manifold is also Ford
(part number C50E 9425-A) but I have no idea what year or engine is
belongs to. Anybody know?

I suspect that I can continue to use the manifold, but maybe now is the
time to put a whole new carb/intake combination on the engine.

The electricals are my strong suit, not carbs, so please give me some
guidance here, gang. All opinions gratefully accepted.
