Rick,

While I can't find your "2805" in any of my books, I'd bet your Holley
expert is correct in its being a big bore unit. I'd suggest that you look
into a Holley 1850 (manual or electric choke); about $170/$200 in my Jeggs
catalog or , if you need an emission controll carb use the 510-o-80453
version (again from Jeggs) ; about $230.

Both of these units are 600 cfm capacity and would be plenty for your
289/302. Does your current carb have mechanical secondaries? I'd venture
an opinion that you'd be happier with a vacuum secondary for the street.
Both of the above are vac. secondaries. You could go to a 750 cfm carb but
unless your engine is built up (cam and valves) the extra capacity would
probably not be used.

I can't find your intake in my Ford parts listing but the numbers are
"similar" to the big block units. To be safe, I'd invest another $200 in
an edelbrock performer manifold for a 302 or one for a 289. Good stuff.

Regards,
