I agree that shop notes are a great source of information but use with
caution. For example I believe that the article that says one should weld
strengthening plates on the surface of the front cross member is still
included. My sources have evaluated this suggestion and feel that it would
be detrimental to the integrity of the structure to plate it in such a
manner. This is not referring to the cross member re-welding nor the fix of
the rebound stop problem but to the suggestion that 1/4 in. plate be added
to the surface of the cross member.
