Bob,

Now if you could only combine Stainless fasteners with Grade 8 strength and
polished heads, you'd have it all.

Turns out you can. ARP makes sets of engine bolts with just such features
(strength ratings are in structural parts like head bolts. I don't know if the
valve cover bolts are that hard. They offer them in hex head, 12 point head,
allen head, whatever. I bought a set of Ford intake manifold bolts with hex
head. The hex was smaller than normal, with a flared skirt to the final
diameter for bearing suface. Looks very nice. Ought to, for $30. Since that
was the only thing I was changing, I didn't get the "Complete Engine Set" for
$130. These included valve cover bolts, water pump and fan bolts, pan bolts,
exhaust manifold bolts, etc. Willing to trade my intake set for a complete set,
and pay the difference, if anyone is interested.

Yes, I know "If it don't go, chrome it". But I do enjoy popping the hood and
watching the viewer's eyeballs do the same. A little "fine finish" makes it
look good, without overdoing it. These are just "highlights" not a chrome
engine, and give it a finished professional look.
