Jeff,

Sometimes the throw-out bearing will make this kind of sound. Try seeing if
the sound correlates with the pressure you apply with the clutch pedal (in
neutral). You should be able to hear some noise associated with the TOB,
even if it's OK. I've never heard of a clutch, per se, making this kind of
sound. Oh yes, maybe it could be a problem with interference in the pilot
bearing. I suppose you're using one of the new roller bearing types rather
than the old bronze bearing.
