Stu,

Sunbeam Specialties has Stainless clip reproductions that are
correct, and they are not expensive. I examined them for the
longest time, trying to figure out how they were supposed to
work, until I found that the long tongue is trapped between
the rubber and the top window edge. They can only be installed
as a window/rubber/all trim/clip assembled sandwich into the
hard top when the window is inserted.

Some drill small holes in the tab and the trim and tie them
together with fine safety wire or fishing line, to prevent
loss of the side trim.
