Just a comment on choices of automotive finishes.

It has been my experience that, with the advent of advanced coatings, it
isn't just what paint they put in the spray gun. Most have multiple
stages of preparation with chemicals, fillers, primers, thinners,
additives, accelerators, etc. that become a chemical "system". Each of
the major manufacturers use different ingredients in these steps that
are not compatible with another's.

The body shop has a whole line-up of dispensers and bulk containers of
these products to support one, or maybe another set for two
manufacturers formulations. It just doesn't pay them to carry any more,
as most customers only want the color they have, or want, matched, and
are not Brand conscious. They depend on the body shop to use quality
materials.

Every paint manufacturer carries multiple kinds of finishes, ranging
from the most basic, to the most advanced. Primary pigmented finish,
alone, can run from $25 to $300 per gallon. The quality of the finished
product can vary greatly within a single manufacturer's line, depending
on your own choices. The difficulty of preparation and application vary
with the coating choice, and the more expensive basic finish choices
usually require similar costs in supporting chemicals and labor/time for
preparation and application.

Your choice of body shop/painters is a much larger influence on the
quality of your paint job than the choice between many fine finish
manufacturers. So, ask the shop what they use, and choose which level
and type of finish you want. The color will, or can, be matched.
Samples of the original ENAMEL of the Tiger are still available for
color matching with the more advanced paint systems.

Just my own experience.
