Bruce, the rear bumper jack ports, are open to the area below the gas
tanks.  Some exhaust fumes can come from this area.  An easy fix is to
put some closed cell foam into the ports, and this stops the problem.
If you trunk seal is bad, the fumes will come into the cockpit this way
as well.  If your grommets on the firewall are bad, this is another
source of fumes/smell into the cockpit.

Raw gas smell is a leak.
