Rick,

Here is the cure to your problem.

1) Remove battery from trunk.

2) Carefully transport it to nearby field, taking care to assure it
cannot fall over and spill acid.

3) Dig hole 2 feet x 2 feet x 3 feet deep.

4) Place battery in environmentally approved sealed container and place
in hole.

5) Stand at head of hole, clasp hands, bow head, and say, "Dearly
Beloved, we are gathered here today............."

6) Go buy Gel Cel Optima battery.

(Notice, battery should really be disposed of at authorized hazardous
materials acceptance center, unless Great Britain LIKES this stuff in
the ground. Lord knows they've buried more unusual things in the past
for us to dig up later and wonder about.  (Wasn't there the Pitcairn
Giant?), and do be careful not to find yet another buried bomb from the
Battle of Britain.

All nice symptoms of a dead battery.
