Jim,

Interesting you bring up the sighting of a Tiger with a Series V Alpine rear
clip. Is this still considered a true Tiger or is this no different than an
Alger? Could this be in an all new category? Chester Bailey had the front clip
from a Tiger in one of his barns complete with motor and all. Last time I
talked with Chester he told me he had taken one of the Series V Alpines he had
laying around and cut it in half; welded the Tiger front clip to the Alpine
rear clip and would sell me the car for $4500 in rough condition. Said I could
pass it off as the real McCoy if I didn't tell anyone. Bottom line - it won't
pass a TAC inspection I hope, and if it did it shouldn't. Of course this is
just my opinion. I guess if someone can't afford the real Tiger it might be
the next best thing as long as it is represented for what it is. I've seen
some Algers that were nicer than most of the Tigers I have seen. So, Algers in
my opinion are not bad things as long as they are properly represented. No
different than a hot rod. Norm may have placed the photo of Chesters Tiger
front clip on his web page. I know I sent most of the photos I took of
Chesters collection to Norm and I saw some of them on his website. I can send
you the photo if you are interested.

  The VIN indicates that it started out as a S5 Alpine, and I'd bet that the
  body tag would be SAL, not JAL, indicating that it was built by Sunbeam
  instead of Jenson.  A couple of months ago at the TE/AE Crab Feast, we saw

  so the spare tire position alone would not be grounds for branding it an

  This once again points that the TAC program, has real value, especially
  to the prospective owner who does not know, and gets caught up in the
