I may be wrong, but I could swear that at least the upper plate is not
removable! The tabs can be bent to to release the plate,but it doesn't come
out of that box.

The screws are held in by plates inside the kick panels. These plates are
held in
by tabs that
can be bent out so the plates can be removed. I got my door bolts loose by
using
the gas wrench
from inside the kick panel, then a long screw driver, bolts came right out.
Plates can be removed
retapped painted etc....
