BMW has announced in Europe that the success of the new Mini has convinced
the company of a market for new models based on classic British sports cars.
A Company spokesman that BMW is working on cars based on the Sunbeam Tiger,
Triumph TR3, and Jaguar XKE.
The first car produced will be a new BMW Tiger. It will have the feel of
the original but with updated styling. It will be powered by a 3.0
6-cylinder from the 3 series BMW. It will have 17 wheels and priced in the
low $30,000 range. BMW hopes to have it ready by April 2004.
