Tom- you can contact the cam compaines and they will punch in the values and
tell you what they sell that is close to your specs. NOW if they can use the
numbers you used to determine lift is an unknown but Crane was great in
getting me a Cam that matched my old one and he emailed all the information
concerning lift, duration etc. Total cam spec sheet . As I mentioned they
actually seemed eager to help. I was impressed with how they insisted on
giving me any numbers I needed. Worth a try.
As for adjusting solid lifters there are two places on the crank, TDC and
then 180 degress out of TDC. As Theo mentioned you adjust half the valves at
each of the two places. When adjusting cold solid lifters I tighten the
adjuster until the pushrod wont rotate and then I back it off until its
spins and myself ,I then tighten it one flat at a time until I feel it is
just right. In reading you will find it calls for the push rod to spin. This
is where the trouble starts because what exactly is the method used to spin
a pushrod? Just doesnt spin, it isnt a top. S I have them tight enough to
allow them to turn but I have no feel or visiual of enough play for any up
and down movement and my mechanic friend who I always used for my 2.8 V6
engines adjust those valves a bit tighter as when doing it my way they where
still noisy but he did it i the cool of morning before anyone else came in
the shop\\\\ My oldest child turned 30 today and Im sure we both should
