Do you happen to have the actually lash setting value for cold?
One point that should also be considered setting solid lifters hot or cold
is that there is often wear on the rocker and valve tips. If you are using a
gauge that "bridges" the wear (as a feeler gauge often will) you may end up
with a few more thousandths than you think. Has anyone used a dial indicator
to set their valves? Given the sloppy side to side rocking of the rocker it
might not work, but I thought I would ask.
Question for the list at large:
I have solid lifters with a "Mystery Cam." Does this come close to any
known cam? Tried to figure out what it is and got these specs:
Intake .472 lift, 295 duration
Exhaust .457 lift, 302 duration
The duration is measured at the first indication of ANY lift (.001").
Later I found out that manufacturers use a variety of different lift points
even for the higher "advertised" duration. A common number seems to be
.006". I did my readings when I had the crossmember out and the whole front
clip cut off. I - NOW - would like to have had duration @ .050 readings, but
with everything having been put back together the task would be
significantly harder.
