I think period road test 0-60 times were really effected by the surface tested
on. Lack of traction with the non posi rear and wheel hop must have been tough
to manage, to say nothing of the oem tires. I'd bet that it wasn't just a
traction issue either, as a grippier surface could make wheel hop worse...

Optimized conditions, given the hp, weight, gear etc I would think mid 7
seconds is about right for a 260 car?

Tim,

I did some research on this a few years back, the 0-60 times for tigers in
the original road tests varied greatly. The MKI's averaged from
7.8sec-10sec.

It sees the Uk road testers would generally get a better 0-60 that the USA..
but would also always fall short of 120mph top speeds. The USA would often
have a slower 0-60, but a 120+ top speed. This might be to do with holding
revs longer in USA.. or more gentle take offs in the UK..

either way i think a stock tiger even on the old tyres should have beaten
9sec.. and definatly should have beaten the 10sec some testers got.

Gran a brroklands gold portfolio book.. it has many of the period road tests
from both sides of the pond.
