need help with emission removal from a 74 tr6

i've removed all hoses and plug carb ports with rubber grommets (was this 
ok)since the removal i seem to be flooding and eventually 
dying(figuratively)  typically the engine seems to cut out after around 20 
min. of driving and is then difficult to restart

where did i go wrong
