Kyle---The "backfire" you witnessed indicates that there was no spark to
the plugs, at least temporarily. When the spark came back it lit off the
surplus of accumulated fuel, mostly in the exhaust. My guess would be
that there is a loose or boken connection in the 12V wire that goes from
the harness to the coil + side. You can make a temporary connection with
a jumper from an ignition (switch) controlled fuse directly to the coil
+ terminal. Take off the black and white (?) wire that is now at the
coil from the harness and tape the end, for safety.    If the engine
runs well with the jumper wire, you'll then get to trace for the break
in the original wire.
