Just wondering,
With all this talk of fire extinguishers in our LBC's - which I have been
thinking of installing,
I can't help but wonder, the majority of car fires are electrically based, if
you extinguish the
flames but don't disconnect the battery the fire will keep going. So first a
main disconnect
needs to be installed, then a fire extinguisher. My concern, from experience
with fire extinguishers
especially dry powder units is they are messy, who cares you have a fire here!
but, once I had a carb fire
on a V8 used an extinguisher and ruined the carb unnecessarily. I could have
smothered it, the same applies here could we smother most fires with a blanket
and save the mess.
I know Halon extinguishers are banned in Canada for quite some time now , the
beauty of Halon
is that it removes the fires fuel (oxygen) with no residue. Unfortunately, it
is a health and environmental hazard.
