Hello to all,

Unfortunately I've been too busy to work on my TR6 and get it going so that
I can enjoy this beautiful driving weather that is gracing New England. I
do have several minor improvement jobs going. I'm hoping that someone can
help with one of them.

I purchased a non-stock steering wheel. My stock wheel is a bit tarnished,
but my main reason for the taking this route is to gain a bit of room for
my right knee. At 6'2" I'm right at the limit for TR6 drivers. Any drive
over a half hour, and I look like Frankenstein when I exit the vehicle.

The wheel went in easily and looks good. The only problem is the horn
button. The old button assembly has a metallic tab that makes contact with
a sprung plunger. This plunger makes electrical contact with a circular
bush inside the steering shaft tube. Connecting this plunger (or the bush)
with a groung must let some current flow to cause the horn relay to close
and turn on the horn.

My problem is that the new horn button assembly doesn't have the same
metallic tab. It's tab looks as if it is meant to be squeezed around a
piece of wire. The horn is from Mountney, a British company. My first guess
at a solution would be to solder a short piece of wire from the new tab to
the plunger. Perhaps the connection to the plunger should only be
mechanical and the piece of wire should just be positioned so that it
contacts the plunger.

Has anyone else faced this problem or does anyone have any other solutions ?

Ciao,
