gasket goop?

Hi all,
I removed the plate at the bottom of my transmission in order to clean that
metal screen filter inside. When I went to put everything back, I found that
I had torn the gasket. A quick call to our buddies at Moss, and a new one
has arrived. Now, when I put the new gasket in, should I apply some kind of
gasket sealant? If so, easy to find recommendation?
