Gaskets and distributor endplay

Went on to check my distributor endplay today. I measure .007" with no
gasket at all. Bentley says to shoot for .005". So, I guess I don't need to
shim it. I measure the compressed gasket thickness as .015". Should I put
this in to seal the distributor pedestal or will this give too much endplay?
If not, I suppose I could just put Hylomar on the mating surfaces.
