Parking brake cables

I'm having trouble getting a new set of parking brake cables to release
after they're applied. I pre-greased the new cables in their sheaths,
and then did the install per Nelson Riedel's documentation. They
certainly lock the wheels no problem, but when I release the lever, the
shoe doesn't seem to be disengaging completely. Any tips on that from
the group? Thanks...
