Just got back from a cruise in the 250. While sitting at a red light, I got
to thinking about something that Bob Lang wrote the other day. It concerned
a low idle speed (don't remember the exact words).

Anyway, I'm sitting at the light and my car is idling smoothly at about
700RPM. Now, I'm thinking about the cam being starved for oil and about all
the damage that can ensue. I still enjoyed the ride, but for peace of mind
I'd like to know the consensus concerning proper idle speed.

Is 700 OK, how about 1000, or 1200? Is it ridiculous to go up to 1500?

I've got all of the manuals and know that I should be at 800-850. I just
wonder about premature cam wear and the positive effect of increased RPMs.
