 My understanding about the rod cap orientation is that the angled cut on
one side of each cap is for clearance to the block during rotation.  If they
were reversed there would not be enough clearance and the rod cap would
impact the side of the block.

this because when the rods are machined in the proper orientation the
bearing "tabs" line up on the same side, which I would think helps to keep
them from spinning. I don't mean to scare you, but i thought it was worth
mentioning and maybe asking your machinist about.
