lower collar on the inner spring?  Does the stock upper collar work?...

When I installed the BPNW double springs in my cylinder head, there were
specific instructions with the springs that said not to use the lower
collar. My stock upper retainers worked fine, although if you have the
money, there are venders who will sell you a set of lighter/stronger ones.
